Our charity partners

Over the years, we’ve helped charities of all sizes raise millions of pounds. We’ve also worked with major charity partners. We give them a hand, by lending them our people and our communications technology.

Comic Relief

Comic Relief Red Nose

Every year we help bring the UK together to ‘be funny for money’ or to get active. The money raised improves lives in the UK and around the world.

We’ve been working with Comic Relief from the very beginning, since 1985. It’s one of the largest grant-giving charities in the UK, supporting thousands of projects around the world.

We help in three main ways:

  • providing the communications technology for the appeals
  • giving our time as volunteers
  • fundraising, both through our own activities and our celebrity challenges. 

We set up celebrity challenges in 2009 when Gary Barlow persuaded a team of his famous friends to climb Mount Kilimanjaro for the BT Red Nose Climb. Since then, we’ve helped raise millions of pounds, for example by encouraging comedian David Walliams to swim the Thames for his BT Sport Relief Challenge, and sending well-known faces from TV down the Zambezi river for the BT Red Nose Challenge: Hell and High Water.

Cancer Research UK

Stand up to cancer

Our employees and customers tell us Cancer Research UK is a really important charity to them. And that isn’t a surprise. With one in two of us being diagnosed with cancer at some point in our lives, we all have our own reasons for wanting to help beat cancer sooner.

We’ve been supporting Cancer Research UK since 2012, when we first supported Stand Up To Cancer. Since then, our people have taken part in a weird and wonderful array of volunteering and fundraising activities – from bucket shaking in fancy dress, sporting crazy hairstyles, thousands of cakes baked and sold, and even a 24-hour gaming marathon!

As the world’s largest independent funder of cancer research, Cancer Research UK are uniquely positioned to help beat cancer sooner. Their scientists, doctors and nurses work to save more lives by preventing cancer, diagnosing it earlier and developing new and kinder treatments.

EE have been supporting UNICEF’s emergency appeals for children whenever and wherever disaster strikes for over 10 years. As a UNICEF emergency partner, EE launched some of the most successful SMS campaigns in the UK to date, raising £5.6 million over the last 10 years for children in danger.

In the UK, we teamed up with UNICEF to deliver The Right Click: Internet Safety Matters programme, which empowered children, parents and teachers with the support they need to stay safe online. Between 2014 and 2017, our volunteers helped deliver over 500 The Right Click workshops which brought together UNICEF’s child rights expertise with our technological know-how on internet safety.
