The Switch & Transmission role is varied and interesting, no two days are the same. You will work on both the PSTN and IP networks to diagnose customer faults, find out why it's happening and what to do in order to get the customer back in service. But It's not just about fault finding, routine maintenance of the network and equipment is also an important part of the role. We do this in order to keep our customers happy. The variety of the equipment is vast so no two days are the same which keeps things interesting. Working on the IP network is great. It's fast and futuristic. We are currently the biggest provider of innovation on this network and you will be working alongside cutting edge equipment and engineers that hold a great deal of knowledge and experience. Maintenance is our key role but it involves much, much more. From fault finding and diagnosis, to quickly dealing with service outages. It may be overwhelming at first, but once you understand the basics, it becomes more of a hobby than a job.

Problem solving is a huge part of this role, so working effectively under pressure and within specific time constraints are essential to thriving in this reactive environment. We have a fully structured learning programme with a huge amount of resources and support. We pride ourselves in providing endless opportunities for our employees. You will be at the forefront of telecommunications innovation, providing an essential role in maintaining our network, whilst working towards an industry recognised qualification.

Entry requirements

You will need to have achieved or are predicted 4 GCSEs at grade C or above including English Language and Maths. In addition you will need to have a full driving licence and you must be able to recognise a range of colours.

Equivalent grades are accepted.
